Topics and Assessments - 1st Trimester (current topics/assessments)
Topic: Researching My Birthday*
Students will research national and international events that took place on their date of birth. They will also search for the Top Fun Facts from their birth year.
Assessment #1: "My Birthday" Mini-Research Project*
Students will research their birthday as stated above. The final product will be typed in Google Docs. Students will also list their sources in order to give credit to where they found their information. This assessment will be completed in library class only.
*We will be working on this topic/assessment throughout the month of September.
Topic: Copyright - What is it and why is it important?
In class, we will study a unit about copyright law. We will discuss various situations involving plagiarism and how it can be avoided. Students will complete a True and False activity to see how much they already knew about copyright. Students will be given notes. These notes will be discussed in detail during library class.

7-118 - Friday, November 8th - C Day (Open Notes)
Topic: Quality Websites
In class, we will discuss the qualities of beneficial websites to use for research. Students will choose a topic of their choice to research and find two websites about their topic. For each website, students need to review the following: Author, Purpose, Audience, Publication, and Overall Recommendation. This assignment will be completed in library class only.
